Notification Preferences
Each user controls their own notification channels from Settings -> Notifications.
Channels
| Channel | Behavior |
|---|---|
| In-app | Creates Inbox notifications and unread counts. |
| Sends transactional email for enabled notification types, with links back to the relevant work. | |
| Slack | Sends Slack DMs when Slack is installed and your Slack user is linked. |
The page starts with Notification methods. Each method shows whether it is disabled, fully enabled, or enabled for some of the visible notification groups. Select a method to configure that channel.
Notification Types
Notification settings are grouped so related events can be changed together:
- Time-off activity: requests, approvals, denials, and booked time-off updates.
- Weekly time-off summary: an email summary for admins and owners.
- Project hours requests.
- Comments.
- Project assignments.
- Target date reminders: approaching and overdue target dates for projects you are accountable for.
- Project activity: check-ins, date changes, status changes, health attention, scheduled update reminders, and status reminders.
- Weekly digest: a Slack-only Monday summary with your projects, time off, and pending actions.
Some notification types are hidden when they do not apply to your role, user type, or workspace setup. For example, freelancer users do not see time-off notification settings, and Slack-only settings appear only when Slack is connected.
Grouped Channel Toggles
Inside a selected method, each switch controls that channel for the notification types in the group. For example, turning off Email for Project updates turns off email for project check-ins, date changes, and status reminders while leaving In-app and Slack settings unchanged.
Project notification preferences have two layers:
- The global Project activity group controls which channels can deliver subscribed project events to you.
- Each project's notification bell controls which project events you are subscribed to for that specific project.
Both layers must allow a selectable event for it to reach you.
Target date reminders are separate from personal project subscriptions. Organization owners, admins, and managers are included for every Active project; project managers and account managers are included for the projects they manage. Inbox and email begin enabled, and Slack DM begins enabled when personal Slack delivery is available. You can turn off any of those methods under Target date reminders without changing other project activity. A mapped project Slack channel can enable or disable shared target date reminders separately.
