Supervisible vs Productive: A Lighter Productive Alternative for Agencies

Productive is a full agency PSA: CRM, projects, tasks, time tracking, budgets and invoicing, priced per user. Supervisible does one job, capacity and margin without timesheets, for one flat price. Here's how to choose.

Productive and Supervisible get compared because both talk about agency profitability. They're very different products. Productive is a professional services automation (PSA) platform that wants to run the whole agency. Supervisible does one thing: shows who's working on what, who has room, and whether the plan makes money.

Neither approach is wrong. Here's how to tell which one you need.

What's the core difference between Supervisible and Productive?

Productive replaces tools. It brings your CRM, project and task management, time tracking, budgets, expenses and invoicing into one PSA, and its numbers come from the time your team tracks. Supervisible sits next to the tools you already have and answers the staffing and margin questions they can't: who's free, who's overbooked, and what this week's plan does to each project's margin.

So the real question isn't "which is better?". It's "do we want to move the whole agency into one system, or fix the capacity blind spot?"

Who should pick Productive?

Productive is the better choice if:

  • You want one system for everything. Deals, projects, tasks, docs, time, budgets, expenses and invoicing in one place. Supervisible covers a fraction of that.
  • You invoice from your project data. Productive has invoicing and accounting integrations. Supervisible is not an invoicing tool and isn't trying to be.
  • Your team tracks time reliably. Productive's budgets and profitability get more accurate with tracked time, and it offers AI time tracking to fill timesheets from calendars.
  • You need revenue forecasting and scenarios. Productive's Ultimate plan adds revenue forecasting and a scenario builder.
  • You run retainers with complex billing. Productive offers recurring budgets and retainer management. Supervisible tracks retainers' monthly revenue but doesn't do overage billing.
  • You want to try it today. Productive has a 14-day free trial with no credit card. Supervisible is demo-only right now.

Who should pick Supervisible?

Supervisible is the better choice if you run a 10-50 person agency and:

  • You already have a task tool you like. Keep your current task management setup. Supervisible handles staffing and margin alongside it.
  • Timesheets never stuck. Supervisible projects margin from planned hours times cost rates. Actual hours are optional.
  • You don't want a long rollout. A PSA touches every workflow in the agency. Supervisible touches one: weekly staffing.
  • Per-user pricing is getting expensive. One flat price with no per-seat fees, so adding people or contractors doesn't change the bill.
  • You want leave and capacity in one place. Approve time off in Supervisible or from Slack, and available hours drop for those weeks. Full-day leave also lands in Google Calendar as an out-of-office event.

When we built Supervisible at Meaningful, we looked hard at going all-in on a PSA. We didn't want to move every workflow, and we knew our team wouldn't track time. That's an opinion, not a universal truth, but it's the one the product is built on.

How much do Supervisible and Productive cost for a 15- and 30-person agency?

Supervisible costs $129 a month or $1,188 a year at any team size. Productive charges per user, with contractors counted the same as employees.

Team sizeSupervisibleProductive EssentialProductive Professional
15 people, monthly$129/mo$180/mo$435/mo
15 people, annual$1,188/yr ($99/mo)$1,800/yr ($150/mo)$4,500/yr ($375/mo)
30 people, monthly$129/mo$360/mo$870/mo
30 people, annual$1,188/yr ($99/mo)$3,600/yr ($300/mo)$9,000/yr ($750/mo)

Productive prices from productive.io/pricing, checked October 9, 2026. Productive's page also lists slightly lower yearly prices ($9 and $24) in its feature table; we've used the higher plan-card prices. Volume discounts start at 50 users.

To be fair, these aren't like-for-like. Productive's price buys a PSA: CRM, tasks, time tracking and invoicing. If you'd otherwise pay separately for those tools, the math changes. If you already have them, you're paying for overlap, and the capacity piece costs $129.

Does Supervisible need timesheets to show margins?

No. Supervisible calculates projected margin from each person's planned weekly hours multiplied by their cost rate, compared with project revenue. If you record actual hours, you can compare them with the plan, but margins don't depend on them.

Productive's budgets and profitability reports are built on tracked time and expenses. That's more precise when your team logs consistently. When they don't, the numbers lag reality.

What can't Supervisible do that Productive can?

Quite a lot, by design. Supervisible doesn't manage tasks, run a sales pipeline, track time with timers, send invoices, bill retainer overages, or model programs above projects. It plans by the week, not by the day. If you want one system to run the agency end to end, choose Productive.

Is Supervisible a good Productive alternative for agencies?

Yes, if what you need is capacity and margin planning without timesheets and you're happy keeping your other tools. No, if you want a single PSA to replace them. For more context on capacity tools, see Supervisible vs Float vs Runn.

Frequently asked questions

If you want capacity planning and project margins without adopting a full PSA, Supervisible is a lighter alternative. It costs a flat $129 a month or $1,188 a year for a 10-50 person agency and doesn't require timesheets. If you want CRM, tasks, time tracking and invoicing in one system, Productive is the better fit.

Yes, for most agencies above about 10 people. Productive charges per user: $10-25 a month billed yearly or $12-29 billed monthly, with contractors paying the same as employees. A 15-person agency pays $150-375 a month billed yearly; a 30-person agency pays $300-750. Supervisible stays at $129 a month, or $99 a month billed annually.

No. Supervisible is not a PSA. It doesn't do sales pipeline, task management, time tracking timers or invoicing. It focuses on weekly staffing, team capacity, time off and projected project margin, and works alongside the task tool you already use.

Productive includes time tracking on every plan, and its budgets, profitability and invoicing work best when the team tracks time against them. It also offers AI time tracking to fill timesheets from calendars. Supervisible projects margin from planned hours multiplied by cost rates, so it works without timesheets.

There's no data migration to plan: you set up people, cost rates, clients and active projects, then plan weekly hours. Because Supervisible covers fewer jobs than Productive, keep your task, time tracking or invoicing tools if you still need them. Request a demo to walk through your setup.

Productive offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card. Supervisible doesn't offer self-serve signup today. Request a demo at supervisible.com/demo and the team will walk you through it.
